Gennady Golovkin
|
Unbeaten 35 fights 32 KO's 22 KO's in a row, That's an incredible record even if the opposition is probably not as strong as it was in the 80's, for example. Where does he stand in the All time Middleweight Pantheon. then?

Well at least he managed to defend his title a few more times than him though he's never faced a Hagler, a Sibson. a Finnegan etc

Until he beats Alvarez, Ward or Mayweather, he's nothing more than decent.

Mini Mike Tyson. Has potential to become a generational great, but at 34 needs to get shifting. Biggest issue is getting anyone to dance with him. Darren Barker was asked when he was briefly world champ and said he would...if someone gave him a golf club to take in! Even warriors like Cotto and Alverez are keeping well clear.

he's a very very bad man. and smiles as he's knocking you out.
unfortunately when you're as dangerous as he is you're ducked by everyone. which is what is happening.
love to see him vs Canelo. But get impression Canelo wants nothing to do with him.

Carl Froch said much the same when asked about it before he retired. Basically said he'd have no chance.

Froch has never said that.

Was that the Alan Minter who said he would never lose to a black man, until Marvelous Marvin Hagler smashed him up!

Hagler tore him apart in 3 rounds, it was carnage.

I'm not 1 of the sheep that wank furiously at the mention of his name.
The fella has a decent amateur record and is a bit heavy handed but fuck me he hasn't really reached for the top fighters has he?
An average Murray took him 11 rounds.
He needs to step in with the cream of boxing for me to rate him as highly as some of the novice part time boxing fans

I'll await the views of those who really know the sport with interest
Neil, Billy and CS for starters but for me, an enthusiastic observer, anyone good enough to even rise to the point of potentially challenging for a place in the corner facing any of the 'Four Kings' would be a bloody good boxer in any era - to beat them and become the man, well not for me
But lets see what they say

Golovkin is an animal. About time he went in with the big names. I think it's a shame he's not more well known. He deserves to be with his power and talent. He's fucking lethal.

he's not reached the top fighters as none of them will fight him
and he "supports" West Ham, we know you don't like sportsmen that do that!

The big names have been ducking him for a while now. They know it's too much of a risk to fight him.

What a load of bollocks...."Top fighters have been ducking him"
No top fighter worth their salt ducks a fight unless it doesn't make financial sense......and in my opinion thats not ducking it, it's being sensible.
Only now is Golovkin beggining to make a name for himself(at 34 i might add) so I guess a big fight is on the cards soon.
Let's see how he gets on amongst the elite.
The perfect fight for him next will be Jacobs.
If he beats him then he deserves alvarez.
Personally I'm not sure Golovkin will beat Jacobs.

He was going to be as famous until he got to America but his fight vs Lemuiex was the fastest sell out for a fight at Madison Square Garden in history.
BJS will show some heard but the power GGG has will take care of him in the middle rounds.
Jacobs, see above.
Alvarez...hmm. This will be one of the biggest fights in boxing history IMO. Both men are natural middleweights, both champions and both love to fight.
I think Golovkin wins, then maybe a step up to Super Middleweight next or maybe light heavy for Andre Ward.
